Imaginative Contemplation – the Miraculous Catch

This episode was originally published in February 2021 under the title “Imaginative Contemplation – Fishermen Called as Disciples” and has been slightly edited for re-release today.

Join us as we continue our imaginative journey through encounters with Jesus in Luke’s gospel. In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus is teaching by the sea when some fishermen, who have been out all night but caught nothing, come in for breakfast.

Every blessing as you pray.

Contemplative at Home offers guided meditative prayer – space to slow down and listen to the truth that is being born out of God’s love for you today – drawing on Ignatian spirituality and at times, Lectio Divina.

  1. Thanks, Lissy, for another wonderful imaginative contemplation. I was struck when Peter expressed he was unworthy, being a sinner, that Jesus didn’t respond to his specific comment. But in saying, “You’ll be fishers of men”, meant walking with Jesus and so there would be less inclination to sin.

I too felt like Peter, unworthy, but in His kindness He simply prompted me to ‘come with us’.

With Lent enabling a time to be a little more intentional in ‘being with Jesus’, it’s a lovely reminder that in going deeper with go with Jesus, the more we’re likely to stay there.

Thank you again, Lissy. Grace and peace to you.

I'd love to hear from you!
